Crispy Cake Making

Crispy cakes are easy to make using cereals such as cornflakes – enjoy the results with a cup of tea and a chat!

What you’ll need:

  • Chocolate bars (one per person) makes approx. 3-4 crispy cakes
  • Cupcake cases
  • Spoons
  • Bowls for melting chocolate
  • Larger bowl for warm water
  • Warm water
  • Decorations (marshmallows, sprinkles, chocolate buttons)


  1. Start with breaking the chocolate into small chunks
  2. Place the small chunks into a smaller bowl
  3. Put some boiled water (leave the water cool for a few minutes for the safety of the individual) then place the smaller bowl into the water
  4. Stir the chocolate until it is all mixed and there are no chocolate lumps
  5. Take the chocolate away from the warm water
  6. Add roughly 2 large handfuls of cereal. 
  7. Mix the cereal until evenly coated in chocolate without a lot of remaining chocolate in the bowl
  8. Add the mixture into the cup cake cases
  9. Decorate with any sweets or sprinkles
  10. Put in the fridge, or to one side if no fridge is available for the cakes to harden
