What makes this project different?
DIAL provides meaningful, life-enhancing support to people who live with dementia and those who care for them.
Often, dementia services can focus on sharing information and medical processes around a diagnosis. While treatment and safety are undoubtedly important, many more factors are involved when we care for a whole person and discover their needs and wants as a unique individual.
Through support that’s tailored to each person, DIAL works to reduce isolation and increase levels of physical activity. These actions help people to stay in touch with friends, to take part in community activities, and to move more. In turn, minds are helped to stay active, and a healthy sense of wellbeing is nurtured.
DIAL does not focus on deficits, difficulties or what’s been lost. We help people enjoy their interests, stay engaged with activities and focus on their personal abilities. We actively encourage continuing to live a full life beyond dementia.
